Woman indicted after officers find pain meds, muscle relaxers and meth
An Ozark County grand jury has indicted Vicky Lea Kendrick, 56, of Isabella, on two class D felonies of possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested Jan. 3 and was arraigned and released from custody the next day on her own recognizance and with supervision by Court Probationary Services (CPS).
A non-compliance report was filed by CPS on Jan. 27. Circuit Judge Craig Carter found that Kendrick violated the terms of her bond, and a criminal summons was issued for her to appear in court today, Feb. 8. A second non-compliance report was filed by CPS on Feb. 2, and Carter found that she’d violated her bond release for a second time. A warrant was issued her arrest, and she is ordered to stay in custody once arrested until the next scheduled Ozark County Law Day.
According to the probable cause statement filed in the case by Deputy Cecilia Boatner, the officer saw Kendrick’s vehicle, a black Suzuki, while doing routine patrol on Feb. 19, 2022.
“I knew that Vicky Kendrick’s license was revoked/suspended from an earlier call on her during the week, which I confirmed with dispatch. I turned around in the parking lot of the post office in Theodosia. The vehicle turned on Highway 95 in Theodosia and pulled into a residence, and I went past the residence and parked on a county road to see if it would pull back out on the highway,” Boatner wrote.
After a few minutes, the officer saw the vehicle pass by her with Kendrick driving. Boatner pulled out behind the vehicle and noticed that the license plates were expired and found that they were not registered to that vehicle. The officer initiated her lights and sirens and stopped the vehicle on Highway 95.
“I told Vicky Kendrick that she would have to be brought into the sheriff’s office to be booked in for her driver’s license being revoked/suspended. I patted her down and asked her to empty her pockets, and she did but put something back inside her pocket,” Boatner wrote.
The officer confiscated the items, which included a bag of marijuana and a yellow round pill, which she identified as Oxycodone-Acetaminophen (Vicodin). An OCSD K9 dog was deployed around the vehicle and alerted officers that there were drugs present. Officers found two syringes, a spoon and a mirror with methamphetamine residue in Kendrick’s purse, the report says. They also found a pill bottle with the muscle relaxer Cyclobenzaprine inside, which Kendrick did not have a prescription for.
