Woman charged for meth possession on North Fork

Mistelle N. Biggers, 51, of Tecumseh, was arrested Sept. 25, in a case which she’s charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a 2022 incident on the North Fork River.

She was released on bond that day after she was arraigned by Associate Judge Raymond Gross; however, two days later a non-compliance report was filed, meaning Biggers violated the terms of her bond. She was rearrested Oct. 10 and ordered to remain in jail for 10 days for the violation before being released on previous bond conditions.

According to the probable cause statement prepared by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper J. Roberts, at 2:25 p.m. May 31, 2022, he was on regular patrol on the North Fork River and, using binoculars, he observed Biggers and Amber Cherry standing on a gravel bar and inhaling from a glass pipe multiple times. Roberts said he saw the women look around nervously, checking to see if anyone was watching while they smoked from the pipe.

Biggers reportedly put the pipe in a blue backpack inside her kayak.

At 3:45 p.m., about an hour later, the pair began floating down the river. Roberts caught up to them at the former Riverside Canoe Rental location, where he pulled in and explained who he was and why he was there. The two women said they understood, and Roberts searched Biggers’ kayak where, inside the blue backpack, he found a brown and clear glass pipe containing residue, as well as a clear baggie with a white and clear substance that appeared to be methamphetamine and a second baggie with what appeared to be marijuana and half of a pill.

Roberts read the pair their Miranda rights, and they agreed to speak with him.

“I asked Biggers if the white and clear substance was methamphetamine, and she said yes. Biggers wouldn’t tell me what the pill was,” Roberts’ report says. “Biggers proceeded to tell me that she bought the methamphetamine and didn’t se it yet.”
