Peardon, Luna plead; Pettit considers plea agreement
Two people pleaded guilty in a case involving the Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force. Summer Luna and Michael Peardon pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a search warrant in Isabella.
On May 4, 2024, the task force conducted a search warrant at the Isabella home of Thomas Pettit and Summer Dawn Luna. According to a previously filed affidavit by Ozark County Lt. Matt Rhoades, during the search officers found used meth pipes, which field-tested positive for the drug, in the bedroom.
Also found in the bedroom was a locker at the foot of the bed with three prescriptions prescribed to a woman named Megan in a different state: Clonazepam, Xanax and Celexa.
According to the affidavit, other prescription bottles were also located in the home with other individuals’ names on the bottles for various ailments. However, those medications were not legally considered controlled substances.
At the time, Pettit told officers that his girlfriend, Luna, had gotten the pills from a house she was helping clean out. He told Rhoades where some of the pills were, but he did not mention the pills in the locker.
In a camper trailer on the property, which was also included on the warrant, Michael D. Peardon exited and was detained. He reportedly told officers that he was living in the trailer and that there were meth pipes, meth and several firearms in the trailer.
Officers collected a pipe, several straws, two plastic bags with white crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for meth, a rifle and two handguns.
Luna pleaded guilty on Oct. 23 to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to SIS and 5 years supervised probation and ordered to successfully complete drug court. An SIS, or suspended imposition of sentence, means the defendant is placed on probation for a period. If the defendant follows the terms of their probation, at the end of the probation period the court will close the case and they will not have a criminal conviction on their records. However, if the defendant violates the probation, a full sentence may be invoked. According to a plea agreement, two charges of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
Peardon pleaded guilty on Oct. 23 to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon by possessing a weapon and a felony controlled substance and was sentenced to SIS and 5 years supervised probation. According to a plea agreement, two charges of unlawful use of a weapon by possessing a weapon and a felony controlled substance and one charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
A plea offer was made to Pettit. According to Pettit’s attorney, his client would like some time to think about the state’s offer. Pettit is ordered to appear at 9 a.m. Dec. 4 for a plea or trial setting. Pettit is charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-prior drug offense and three counts possession of a controlled substance.
