Murder suspect gets new felony charge after trying to help man avoid arrest

Alleged murderer Patricia Santos-Duvalier, 59, of Dora, now has another felony case filed against her, a class E felony of hindering the prosecution of a felony in connection with her alleged attempts to help a man avoid arrest on three active felony arrest warrants that had been issued for him.
According to the probable cause statement, prepared by Ozark County Deputy Hunter Ryan, jail staff informed him on April 7 that Santos-Duvalier was making phone calls from the jail phone to David Bradberry II, a man who is wanted by the court on three felony warrants in Ozark County. The staff members said Santos-Duvalier was attempting to use the jail phone to arrange transportation for Bradberry to get to a motel to avoid arrest.
The report says that Santos-Duvalier called Bradberry on April 7 and asked him where he was. He said he had “left that treatment,” and Santos-Duvalier told him she already knew that and asked, “You know what that means, right?” Bradberry reportedly said “yeah,” and Santos-Duvalier asked, “Is that what you want to do?” Bradberry said, “…to go back to jail? No, I don’t want to go back to jail.” Santos-Duvalier then asked where he wanted to be, and Bradberry said he wanted to go “to a home.”
Later, Santos-Duvalier called Bradberry again and the two reportedly spoke about trying to rent Bradberry a room at a motel that had no lobby or elevator. Bradberry told Santos-Duvalier that his sister had informed him that a warrant was issued for his arrest, and he said he really “needed to be a ghost.”
Jail staff listened to other phone records, which revealed that Santos-Duvalier told Bradberry to go inside a motel and hand the cell phone to the lobby clerk. She said she’d explain to the clerk that it was her card they were using, and they’d like to book a week-long stay for Bradberry.
The jail phone records have Bradberry on the phone, walking into a motel and telling a clerk, “she wants to talk to you.” The clerk said, “hello,” and Santos-Duvalier asked if they could charge her card for the weeklong stay rather than one night, and the clerk said yes. Santos-Duvalier then asked if the motel could charge $100 extra dollars and give Bradberry the money in cash. The clerk said she could not do that.
Just before noon the next day, April 8, Santos-Duvalier called Bradberry again, and he told her that he was leaving his motel to go to the closest Walmart to get money from Western Union, so he had some money to get by on.
It is illegal for a person to help another avoid arrest for a warrant.
Santos-Duvalier was arraigned on the case on April 15. She waived the official reading of the charges in court and pleaded not guilty. She was scheduled to return to court for the hindering charge Tuesday. Results of the hearing were not available at presstime.
Santos-Duvalier is also charged in unrelated open cases in Ozark County with second-degree murder for the alleged beating death of a non-verbal, special needs woman who she was hired to care for, assault of an elderly woman and a violation of an ex-parte order of protection that was filed against her.
