Man pleads guilty to making a terroristic threat to OCSD

Circuit Judge Craig Carter processed 22 cases during the Sept. 4 session of Ozark County Court.

Brady Keith Jonas pleaded guilty to felony first degree making a terrorist threat. He was sentenced to 5 years probation with suspended imposition of sentence. An SIS, or suspended imposition of sentence, means the defendant is placed on probation for a period of time. If the defendant follows the terms of their probation, at the end of the probation period the court will close the case and they will not have a criminal conviction on their records. However, if the defendant violates the probation, a full sentence may be invoked. A count of misuse of emergency telephone service was dismissed.

According to the original probable cause statement, on March 8, 2023, Jonas called the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department dispatch line and threatened to shoot everyone at the sheriff’s office. He called back more than 10 times during the day, shouting derogatory remarks and continuing to threaten to “shoot up” the sheriff’s department. It was later discovered that the caller was Jonas.

On Dec. 17, 2023, Jonas again called 911 and was connected to the OCSD dispatcher. According to the statement, he said another dispatcher had kidnapped his daughter and was holding her hostage. He called 911 eight times during the day, tying up the dispatcher who was also answering emergency calls.
