Man flees scene of injury crash, returns later for help

Brandon Guidry

Jennifer S. Wilson, 40, of Flippin, Arkansas, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash near Thornfield Oct. 21.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash report, Brandon S. Guidry, 39, of Thornfield, was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer with Wilson as a passenger. At 2:20 p.m. that Saturday on Highway 95, three miles south of Thornfield, he traveled off the left side of the roadway and overcorrected, then overcorrected a second time, causing the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn. Wilson was transported to Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas, by Ozark County Ambulance. She was not wearing a seatbelt, the report says. The vehicle was a total loss and was towed from the scene by Jim’s Body Shop of Ava.

The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department says that Guidry wasn’t on scene when officers arrived, but they did find methamphetamine and a firearm in the truck. Later, Guidry reached out and requested medical assistance from the injuries he sustained by the crash and fleeing. He was booked into the Ozark County Jail on charges of possession of drugs and a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released and transported to the hospital for his injuries.
