Man faces felony charge for alleged calls in March

Corey Pool
A criminal setting is scheduled for Corey Pool, of Gainesville, at 11 a.m. Aug. 1, before Associate Judge Lynette Veenstra in Ozark County court.
Pool is facing a class E felony charge of harassment in connection with several phone calls he is accused of making back in March of this year.
The probable cause statement and complaint in the case, prepared by Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin, says that a woman made a report of harassment around 1 p.m. April 3.
The woman reportedly told the sheriff that at around 9 p.m. March 28, she received a phone call from a number she didn’t recognized. She said when she answered the call, she discovered it was Pool.
She said Pool said, “Your son is a [expletive] idiot and you need to be a better mom and take care of him and teach him better.” The woman said she told Pool that her son was 20 years old. She said she told him to leave both her sons and herself alone and not to call her again. She said he kept yelling at her and calling her derogatory names with expletives. She said he told her that she said it was no wonder her husband divorced her and several other insults.
The woman said she told Pool that he was drunk and that he needed to leave her and her kids alone, as they hadn’t done anything to him. She said she then hung up on him.
The woman said Pool called her two more times, and she didn’t answer. Then he called again, and she answered and told him to stop calling and to leave her alone. She said he then attempted to solicit sex with her and again made derogatory remarks about her and her children. She said she again hung up telling him not to call again. She said he attempted to call her phone a fifth time but she refused to answer.
Pool appeared in court June 13 and was read the charges and advised of his rights. At his request, the case was set for appeal of public defender denial of representation and setting of preliminary hearing.
