Law enforcement pursuit from Howell County ends in arrest near Bakersfield Saturday

Magnum J. Price of West Plains reportedly led Howell County Sheriff’s Deputies on a vehicle pursuit into Ozark County Saturday afternoon, Dec. 17.

A post on the HCSD Facebook page says that the incident began around 1:25 p.m. Saturday when Howell County Deputy Seth Smith attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver Camaro on Garner Blvd. in West Plains, but the vehicle he attempted to stop failed to pull over or yield to his emergency lights and sirens.

Price, who was driving the car, continued to flee from the deputy on Highway 160, traveling to Caulfield and turning onto Highway 101 into Ozark County.

The pursuit ended on O Highway when Price stopped the car. He was arrested, taken into custody and transported to the Howell County Jail where he was booked on an arrest warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Officers discovered eight grams of what they suspect is methamphetamine during the search of Price at the scene, the post said. He is expected to be charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest for a felony and driving with a revoked license.

The incident was quite similar to a run-in Price reportedly had with HCSD on Oct. 28. Another post on the organization’s Facebook page shows that HCSD Jordon Collins attempted to conduct a stop on Price, who was driving a black Dodge Challenger on K Highway in West Plains. Price reportedly fled from the officer, traveling down several Howell County roadways before entering a private driveway at the end of County Road 4220. While attempting to flee from the private drive, Price reportedly wrecked the vehicle into a fence and came to a stop, where he was arrested. He’s charged with resisting arrest in that case.
