Damage to jail phone leads to felony charge

Patricia Santos-Duvalier
Already facing multiple felony charges, Patricia Santos-Duvalier, of Dora, is now accused of destroying jail property while in custody at the Ozark County Jail.
According to the probable cause statement prepared by Ozark County Deputy Josh Sherman, on July 7, jail staff found damage to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) phone cord and box at the Ozark County Jail.
Upon reviewing the CVT footage, officers observed Santos-Duvalier ripping the phone cord out from the NCIC phone box around 5:30 p.m. June 24.
“Specifically security footage from Pod B clearly shows Ms. Duvalier intentionally pulling the phone cord out of the NCIC box, rendering it inoperable. This act constitutes the intentional destruction of jail property... The incident was recorded and reserved as evidence, and Ms. Duvalier’s actions were willful and deliberate, as observed on the footage,” Sherman’s report says.
She is charged with the class E felony of damage to jail property in connection with the allegations. She was ordered to be arraigned in the case Tuesday. Results of the hearing were not available at presstime.
Santos-Duvalier is also currently charged in unrelated Ozark County cases with 28 counts of stealing a firearm, hindering the prosecution of a felony and violation of a protection order for an adult.
