McGinnis to coach at Bakersfield HS

Cainen McGinnis

Cainen McGinnis was hired by the Bakersfield School Board of Education as a paraprofessional and assistant basketball coach.

McGinnis is a Willard native; 2014 graduate and 3-year varsity basketball starter at class 5 Willard High School. He was a part of three district championships (2011, 2013 and 2014) including one quarterfinal appearance in 2014 and COC Conference Champions in 2014, participated in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions in 2014, went on to play at Baptist Bible College for a year before stepping into coaching in 2016 as an assistant on the Willard High School varsity boys basketball team. He also spent several years and summers coaching in different capacities such as the Willard Lady Tigers basketball program.

Cainen said his hobbies are hunting, fishing, working out, being with family and watching/playing basketball.

“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Bakersfield boys basketball program,” McGinnis said.

“The moment I stepped onto campus I felt like I was at home. Having family in and around Ozark County and growing up visiting the area has made this an easy decision because it’s always been a home away from home,” he said. “I look forward to diving in and getting started at Bakersfield. I have a love and passion for helping young people achieve their goals whether it’s on the floor or off the floor. I’m here to give them whatever tools they need to help drive them to success at whatever they want to do in life. I’m excited to be a Lion.”
