Lions take win over Bulldogs
The Bakersfield Lions took a nail-biting 80-75 win over the Gainesville Bulldogs Tuesday, Dec. 12, in front of a packed crowd of Ozark County basketball fans at Bakersfield. Ethan Cotter led the scoring with a game-high 27 points for the Bakersfield Lions, while Easton McGee led Gainesville with 21.
Others scoring for Bakersfield were Morris Collins 19, Mason Bean 12, Connor Jones 8, Jesse Tackitt 7, Case Lashley 5 and Bodie Hardin 2. Mason Bean led in assists with 5, while Lashley and Cotter led in rebounds with 5 each.
Other players scoring for Gainesville were Andrew Hambelton 14, Grant Leeker 13, Nathan Kiger 10, Jace Headrick 9, Hunter Luna 4 and Harmon Johns and Owen Donley with 2 each. Kiger led in assists with 7, and Hambelton led Gainesville in rebounds with 12.
Bakersfield traveled to Norwood to take on the Pirates Tuesday, Dec. 19. Results of that game were unavailable at presstime. During Christmas break, the Lions will travel to Kansas City to compete in the 12 Courts of Christmas tournament where they will play Liberal on Dec. 28 and Palmyra on Dec. 29.
