Bakersfield volleyball team picks up wins as season winds down
The Bakersfield High School girls’ volleyball team, in their first season since adding the sport for the 2022-23 school year, is improving and have picked up some momentum and a few more wins heading into the District Tournament this week.
The Lady Lions, coached by Molly Bowen, recently beat Dora, Gainesville, Couch and Koshkonong to improve their season record to 7-12.
At Gainesville on Thursday, the Lady Lions took the contest in three matches.
The Lady Lions beat Koshkonong in three matches on Oct. 7 and defeated Couch in four sets (3-1) on Oct. 4. Bakersfield lost in three sets to Mountain Home Christian Academy on Oct. 11.
Meanwhile, other first-year Ozark County volleyball teams Dora (2-15-2) and Gainesville (1-19-1) are all prepping for the district tournament as their inaugural seasons come to a close.
All three Ozark County volleyball squads have improved this season, while facing veteran programs and teams that have been established for years in the Ozarks.
