Bakersfield Lions boys take second place in Seymour Bank 2024 Winter Classic tourney

The Bakersfield Lions boys basketball team took home the second place trophy at the Seymour Bank 2024 Winter Classic tournament, after a 85-66 loss to the talented Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish boys.
Bakersfield’s Morris Collins and Ethan Cotter were named to the all-tournament team.
The JV team won against Cassville.
The Lions entered the Seymour tournament Jan. 8, facing off against Lighthouse Senior High School. The team brought home a healthy win, ending the night with 78 points on the scoreboard with Lighthouse only putting up 61 points.
The win advanced the Bakersfield boys to the second round, where they competed against Aurora. The game was a tight one, but the Lions squeaked out a win 67-66.
The Bakersfield boys head out of one tournament and into another with their play this week in the Houston Community Foundation Varsity Boys Basketball tournament, which runs Jan. 16-20.
The Bakersfield Lions are seeded first in the tournament and will take on number 8 seed Koshkonong in the first round at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16. Couch, seeded fourth, plays fifth seed Summersville at 5:30, followed by second seed Cabool vs. seventh seed House at 7 and number three seed Salem vs. sixth seed Fordland at 8:30.
