Ozark
County lies along the Arkansas border in south central Missouri. The diverse
topography includes farmlands and pastures spreading through gentle valleys
and over rolling hills to more precipitous and rugged forested hills.
Gainesville, the county seat, is situated at the junction
of U.S. Highway 160 and Missouri Highway 5. It is about 90 miles southeast
of Springfield,
255 miles southeast of Kansas City and 240 miles southwest of St. Louis.
And, to our east about 60 miles, you'll find the country music and entertainment
mecca of Branson.
Ozark County enjoys all four seasons, and
each brings its own particular beauty to the area. Winters are generally
short, January and February being the worst weather months. Summers are
occasionally very dry, with the humidity level in July typically five
times higher than in January.
The county's average precipitation
is about 42 inches, with about five percent of that being snow. The average
temperature is 61 degrees (F). Ozark County's typical growing season is
about 200 days.
The most significant economic classifications
in the county are agriculture, recreation and tourism and retirement income.
It
is amazing to see how many people from every state in the United States
have found out that Ozark County is a great place to live - whether they
are planning early retirement here or bringing the whole family to enjoy
a simpler way of life away from the big city.
It also is obvious to most all that come
here that one can still get more real estate for your buying dollar in
and around the southern Missouri Ozarks area than in most other places
in the country.
So if you decide to buy your own piece of
the Ozarks, you will soon realize that you are not only making a great
real estate investment, but you can live out your dreams of a lifetime
in a pristine, pollution-free environment and wake up every day to the
natural scenic beauty of the Ozarks.
