School is two and a half weeks away: Area schools schedule registrations, open house events

The start of the 2022-23 school year is just around the corner, and Ozark County school districts have announced their registration and start-of-school activities and schedules.

 

Bakersfield

New student registration is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, Aug. 9-11. New students may come at anytime, but they can also call the school to make an appointment for a specific time.

Bakersfield’s open house will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 18. 

School starts Tuesday, Aug. 23, with a full day of classes, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. 

Bakersfield’s school supply lists for students in preschool through eighth grade are posted in the live feed comments on the district’s website: https://www.bakersfield.k12.mo.us. Other school information can be found there, too, including the school calendar.

 

Dora

New student registration is from 8 am. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 16-18. 

Open house will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. This event is open to all students and their parents. At open house, students can meet their teachers, get information about bus routes, get their schedules and lockers (for middle and high school). 

A back-to-school fair will be 8 a.m. until noon on Aug. 6 in the cafeteria. There will be free clothing, shoes, backpacks, hygiene kits, haircuts and more. All needed school supplies for pre-K through 8th grade will be provided by Back to School Basics, a nonprofit organization. Monetary donations are tax deductible. Anyone wishing to donate new or gently used clothes can call 417-712-1027 or 417-293-7471.

School starts Monday, Aug. 22.

Gainesville

All registrations will take place at the elementary school this year due to construction. 

Registration for returning students will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, according to this schedule: seventh and eighth grades from 8 until 10 a.m.; ninth and 10th grades from 10 a.m. until noon; and 11th and 12th grades from noon until 3 p.m.

Registration for new students to the district will be from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday, Aug. 11. 

Student information can be updated, and schedules will be available at registration. Siblings are encouraged to attend together. 

Returning elementary students will be sent home with paperwork to update information on the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 22.

Open house for all students in pre-K through twelfth grade will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18.

School supplies will be provided for all Gainesville students this year thanks to “Gainesville R-V and the Ministerial Alliance” the district’s Facebook page announced.

Lutie

Registration for Lutie students will be Aug. 10-12, with the following schedules:

Aug. 10: 9th and 10th grade registration from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Aug. 11: 11th and 12th grade registration from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Aug. 12: elementary registration from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

All school supplies will be furnished to Lutie elementary students.

The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 22. 

An open house and ice cream social will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19.

Thornfield

New student registration is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8. To register, new students should bring a birth certificate, social security number, immunization record and proof of residency to the registration. 

Open house will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19. Parents will be notified of bus route times by that day also. 

School starts Monday, Aug. 22, with a full day of classes.

Students only need to bring PE shoes, a water bottle and a backpack for school. If anyone needs help with those items, the school has resources to help out. All other supplies will be provided by the school.
