Masons’ gift supports Lutie backpack program

Len Modlinski, left, Masonic Home representative for Sampson Masonic Lodge #298 in Theodosia, and Lewis Nauss, master of Sampson Lodge, on Oct. 9 presented a $600 check to Lutie School guidance counselor Alisha Favazza to help support the school’s backpack program, which provides food for students who qualify for the supplementary support. Through its Creating-A-Partnership program, the Masonic Home of Missouri matches funds from local Masonic lodges for certain benevolent initiatives related to the well-being of children. At the annual Grand Lodge meeting in Columbia in September, Sampson Lodge #298 received the Grand Lodge Public Relations Award for 2017, the third time in the last four years that it has been awarded the honor. The Grand Lodge of Missouri includes more than 340 Masonic lodges, many from major cities. “For us in the little town of Theodosia to be recognized in this manner is a real honor,” said Modlinski, who serves as the Lodge’s media contact person. “We could not achieve this recognition without the support and cooperation of the Ozark County Times,” he said.
