Three officers in the Gainesville High School Family Career and Community Leaders of America chapter attended the FCCLA National Cluster Meeting Nov. 8-12 in Washington, D.C.

Through club fundraising efforts and with money contributed on their own, Branetta McNeve, Liz Morse and Makayla Mansker attended the national meeting with chapter adviser Betsy Ritchie. The national conference provided an opportunity for the students to expand their leadership skills through positive initiative while also sharpening their talents, Ritchie said.

“We had tons of fun and most importantly, tons of learning experiences. We visited a couple of the Smithsonian museums (natural history and American history). We saw the Lincoln Monument, and we tried a Japanese place for lunch – sushi! All in all, a great trip. I cannot wait to go on another FCCLA adventure,” said chapter reporter Branetta McNece.

“It was a great experience for young students to see our nation’s Capitol, and we plan for more of our club members to attend conferences like this in the future,” Ritchie said.
