Care to Learn silent auction part of elementary’s Christmas program

A silent auction benefiting the Gainesville Care to Learn program will be held Dec. 7 during the Gainesville Elementary School’s Christmas program. Bidding on the items will begin at 5 p.m. and will continue until 6:45 p.m., when the second half of the Christmas program begins. Winners will be announced following the end of the second half, around 7:45 p.m.

Local businesses and individuals donated some of the items to be offered in the auction, including things like Pioneer Woman cookware, a basket of cleaning items for detailing cars and a Top Dog Fitness Center bundle that includes a membership, backpack, sweatshirt and T-shirt. Baskets of items put together by Gainesville Elementary classes will also be available for bidding. Class baskets focus on these themes: kindergarten, winter wonderland; first grade, snow day; second grade, outdoor hunting; third grade, family night; fourth grade, Christmas and Christmas tree; fifth grade, holiday baking; and sixth grade, movie night.

All proceeds will benefit the Gainesville chapter of Care to Learn, a program that aims to provide immediate funding to area students to meet needs including health, hunger and hygiene.
