Gainesville has wins over Lutie, Morrisville

The Gainesville Bulldogs hold a 10-7 record after last week’s wins over Lutie and Marion C. Early High School.
Friday night, the Bulldogs traveled to Theodosia to take on Lutie and brought home a 72-48 win. Garrett Morgan led the scoring for the Bulldogs with 21 points, followed by Brandon Poe with 18. Jaxon Britt added 13 while Brodie Chapman scored 9, Wyatt Wilson 4, Ben Pointer 3, John Hossman and Justin Wallace 2 each.
Wilson and Poe led in rebounds with 8 each. Poe led in steals with 5, and Chapman led in assists with 6.
Lutie’s Eli Morpeth had a game-high 29 points. Ryan Garrison scored 11 points for the Indians, followed by Garrett Souder with 8.
Saturday, Gainesville hosted the Marion C. Early High School Panthers from Morrisville and won 58-20.
Brodie Chapman scored 11 points, had 5 assists and 3 steals and pulled down 3 rebounds. Brandon Poe scored 11, pulled down 6 rebounds, led in steals with 5 and had 2 assists. Garrett Morgan scored 6 points, had 2 steals and 1 rebound. John Hossman scored 6 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, had 4 steals, 1 assist and 1 block. Wyatt Wilson scored 5 points, had 7 rebounds, led in blocks with 3 and had 1 steal and 1 assist. Ben Pointer scored 5 points, pulled down 1 rebounds and had 1 assist. Jaxon Britt scored 4 points and had 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Cody Donley scored 2 points and pulled down 2 rebounds.
Gainesville is competing in the Sparta Tournament this week and played their first-round game against Lighthouse Tuesday night.
