The Dora Lady Falcons fought back from an early deficit to defeat Crocker 9-8 in the  Class 1, District 2 championship game Saturday, Oct. 7, in Crocker. After giving up a homerun in the first inning, the Lady Falcons responded with two runs, but Crocker was able to do most of their scoring in the second inning, according to Dora coach Dylan Fox.  “They had a couple breaks go their way, and we booted the ball a little bit with three errors in the inning,” Fox said. “After that, we settled down defensively, only allowing one more run. We hit them pretty well. I knew if we would be disciplined at the plate and swing at strikes, we would have a chance.” While the Lady Falcons never had a big inning, the team kept scratching and clawing its way back. “I was pretty proud of them for that,” Fox added. “Senior Kryslyn Colvin really kept us up and kept us going. She went 3-4 and scored the game-winnng run.

“Keeli Land was 2-4 and had a really good game. We also had a big game out of Mary Fehr, Taylor Trail and Haley Jones at the plate. A lot of girls really stepped up and contributed this weekend. You could tell that they really wanted this win, so they went out and got it,” he said.

Dora, who holds a 17-10 record, will take on the Chaffee Lady Devils (16-11) at 5 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at Chaffee.
