William ‘Sonny’ David Cherry Jr., 73
William “Sonny” David Cherry Jr., age 73, passed away at his home in Isabella, MO September 5, 2019. He was born October 3, 1945 in Syracuse, Kansas, the son of William David Cherry and Alice Marie Cherry.
Sonny loved to go fishing and hunting. A carpenter by trade, he could build about anything. He loved his motorcycle. It was his pride and joy. He was a veteran of the Navy. He entered the service in 1962-1966 and served in the Navy C-bees. He did two tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife Lorene of Isabella; his step-daughter Pam Newbille of Alabama; his step-son Brian Klukow of Isabella, MO; his sisters, Bertha M. Leigh of Henderson, Nevada, Marilyn Kay Bailey of Abilene, Texas, and Ina May Cole of Wylie, Texas; two brothers Jim Jerome Cherry of Wylie, Texas and Lawrence Duane Cherry of Clovis, New Mexico; two grandsons Thomas and Joseph Cherry of Washington State; a special aunt Rosie and uncle Hap Parker of Oregon City, Oregon; five sisters-in-law, Donna Lawson of Sundown, MO, Charlene Gonzales of Isabella, MO Juanita and Tim Jeffery of Theodosia, MO Bonita Hardy of Isabella, MO and Bonnie and John Peter Gainesville, MO; two brothers-in-law L.D. Garrison of Isabella, MO and Ronnie and Shirley Garrison of Isabella, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne L. Cherry; his step-son Jeffery A Klukow; his father William and his mother Alice Cherry; his mother and father-in-law Hattie and Charlie Garrison.
Sonny will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
