Willard Leo Barnett, 82

Funeral services for Willard Leo Barnett, 82, of Sedalia, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia. Mr. Barnett died Jan. 14 at his home.

He was born July 27, 1935, in Lutie, the son of Emory Oscar Barnett and Vonnie Shirley Friend Barnett. On Feb. 14, 1952, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, he married Lizzie Audrey Lorene Lewis.

He was a hard worker and worked many jobs, including building dams, farming and working for the Ewing family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the garden and yard, and listening to bluegrass music. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. He will be remembered for his storytelling and for bringing a smile to others’ faces.

He is survived by Lizzie, his wife of 65 years, and their children, Dewayne Barnett and wife Penny of Hermitage, Linda Meek and husband Ted of Sedalia, Leo Barnett and wife Donita of Collins, Brenda Clark and husband Dilbert of Mora, Lana Kentner and husband Steve of Mountain View, Bobby Barnett of the home, and Wilbur Barnett, Ricky Barnett, Drew Barnett and wife Dayhna, and Jamie Barnett and wife LaCrista, all of Sedalia; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Irene Partee, Norene Sisney, Lorene Eckley, Leonard Barnett, Kevin Barnett and Louise Barnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennie Barnett; his great-granddaughter, Avia Meek; his great-grandson, Cody Vinson; and one brother, Cleo Barnett.

Burial was in Dunksburg Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
