Troy Lee Clayton, 86

Funeral services for Troy Lee Clayton, 86, of Squires, were held Jan. 25, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with Pastor Neal Crum officiating. Mr. Clayton died Jan. 21 at his home.

He was born Feb. 1, 1933, in Longrun, the son of John Thomas and Defsia Lee Absher Clayton. On Aug. 26, 1956, in Squires, he married Annette Turner. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for West Plains Bridge and Grating. He was also a farmer.

Mr. Clayton was a Christian. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, sucker grabbing, fishing for white bass, deer hunting and his farming. He was a charter member of the Ava Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Steve Clayton and wife Thelma, Doug Clayton and wife Michele, and Vicki Nelson; five grandchildren, James, Ashley, Brandon, Cody and Austin; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Rayford Clayton three sisters, Brooksie Graves, Lena Brown and Lois Mudd; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bobby; three brothers, Clifford, Tilford and Trellis; two sisters, Letha Brown and Roxie Roberts.

Burial was in the Hicks Cemetery at Theodosia. Memorials may be made to Hicks Cemetery.
