Robert ‘Gene’ Bowers, 85

Funeral services for Robert Eugene “Gene” Bowers, 85, of Koshkonong were held April 15, 2018, at Carter Funeral Home in West Plains with Mike Braswell officiating. Mr. Bowers died April 12 in Koshkonong.
He was born Sept. 27, 1932, in St. Louis, the youngest of six children born to William Alvin and Mary Ellen Burns.
He and his first wife, Lorene, were married in 1951 and were blessed with a daughter, Glenda Mae, and a son, William Robert, known as Bobby. After his first wife’s death on April 20, 1985, in Kennett, Mr. Bowers married Ozark County native Ivonne Hillhouse-Davis.
He worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was also a Pentecostal minister and loved to share the Word of God everywhere he went. He loved his faith and his family. In 1994, he and his wife moved to Koshkonong. He loved living in the country on a farm, tending to his land and animals, especially his horses.
He is survived by Evelyn Ivonne Bowers, his wife of nearly 33 years; his daughter, Glenda Braswell; grandsons Michael and Jonathan Braswell and their wives; great grandsons Chase, Cole, Taylor and Ryder Braswell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lorene, who died in 1983, and their 2-year-old son, Bobby; his brother Harold and sisters Bess, Effie, Goldie, Elsie and baby Imogene; his son-in-law Mike, and his step-son Jerry Wayne.
Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Farmington
