Mary Wages, 78

Funeral services for Mary Wages, 78, of Gainesville, were held Feb. 18, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Jeff Dotson officiating. Mrs. Wages died Feb. 15 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis.

She was born April 8, 1941, in Eddyville, Iowa, the daughter of Earnest and Effie Lund Brandon. She worked for 21 years at the Collis Company in Clinton, Iowa, before moving to Gainesville in 1978 and going to work for Baxter Lab in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She retired after 33 years at Baxter. In all her working career, both at Collis and at Baxter, she never missed a day of work.

She was a kind, friendly and hardworking woman, and also a loving mother and grandmother who always put her kids first.

She is survived by her five children, Laura Faye Skinner-Hamann-Paulsen and husband David of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Bobby Lorne Wages Jr of Davenport, Iowa, Donald Eugene Wages and wife Dorene of Caulfield, Richard Dean Wages and wife Carolyn, and Luther Ray Wages, all of Gainesville; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura Mae Still and husband Fred of Louisiana, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James Wesley Holliday; her second husband, Robert Lorne Wages; eight siblings, Richard, Tommy, Harold, Effie, Donald, Robert, Helen and Dean; and grandchildren Nick, Ameila, Demi and Johnathon.

Memorial contributions may be given to help with funeral expenses.
