Mary Beth Roberts, 76

A celebration of the life of Mary Beth Roberts, 76, of Pontiac, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Pontiac Price Place Firehouse #1 on W Highway next to the Pontiac post office. A dinner will be served, with the fire department furnishing chicken and rolls; those attending are encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share, if possible.

Mrs. Roberts died Dec. 9, 2017, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

She was born Nov. 11, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Dale D. and Esther Bartelmay. She graduated from Minier, Illinois, High School in 1959. On Feb. 20, 1960, in Minier, she married Rondell Roberts. They lived in Minier until they moved to Pontiac in 1993.

For 20 years, Mrs. Roberts served as treasurer for the Pontiac Price Place Volunteer Fire Department. She was a leading force in guiding the department from a “little, just-getting-started” fire department to become the thriving community resource it is today, fire department friends said.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pontiac Price Place VFD. For more information about the dinner and celebration of life, call Carol Jones, 417-679-2859.
