Marron ‘Mike’ Schultz, 77

Marron Michael “Mike” Schultz, 77, of Gainesville, died July 13, 2019, in Gainesville. Honoring his wishes, the memorial service will be private.

He was born March 9, 1942, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of Mike and Ceil Galazen Schultz.

He graduated from Bayfield (Wisconsin) High School in 1960 then went to meat-cutting school and worked as a butcher in Duluth, Minnesota, for several years. Then he decided to chase his dreams by moving to sunny Southern California. He was soon followed by his mother as well as siblings Jason, Neil and Julie.

In California, Mr. Schultz was frequently found at the Palladium, dancing to Lawrence Welk or listening to the music at Cal’s Corral in Huntington Park; many weekends were spent at Big Bear.

After several years, Mr. Schultz moved to Houston, Texas, then returned to California and finally moved back to Bayfield, Wisconsin, where he started a garbage collection route. After selling that very successful business, he started Master Bait Farm, a worm farm, and also went into the Birch Bark business, establishing a wholesale market supplying gift shops in a 150-mile radius with Birch Bark products he produced.

Upon retirement, he moved to Salome, Arizona, then moved to Texas before finally settling in the Gainesville area.

Mr. Schultz is fondly remembered as a fun-loving guy who enjoyed a good party.

He is survived by his brothers, Jason Schultz of Bayfield, Wisconsin, and Neil Schultz of Iron River, Wisconsin; and his sister Julie Rorher of Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
