Lyle Kent Turner, 59

 

Funeral services for Lyle Kent Turner, 59, of Thornfield, were held Sept. 1, 2018, at  Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with Pastors Bill Comer and Doyle Turner officiating. Mr. Turner died Aug. 29 at his home surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

He was born March 25, 1959, in Mansfield, the son of William Leslie and Mavie Alice Wilson Turner. He was a lifetime farmer and loved working on the farm. He helped his dad and Uncle Coy as a child. He then joined with his dad and brothers Doyle and Gaylon; later, he and Doyle ran the family farm together.

Mr. Turner was a Christian and a member of Igo General Baptist Church, which he had attended from the time he was an infant until the church closed. Later he attended Thornfield General Baptist Church; he was attending True Hope General Baptist Church at the time of his death. He played the piano at church. He attended Piland Youth Camp and White River Youth Camp and was saved at youth camp.

He enjoyed making molasses and fishing with his friends Randy and Bill. He had the privilege of escorting his dad on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. 

He is survived by his five siblings and their spouses: Wade Turner, Doyle Turner and wife Peggy, Linda Daugherty and husband Wendell, and Jeanie Smith, all of Thornfield, and Gaylon Turner and wife Karen of Gaines-ville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thornfield Cemetery, where Mr. Turner was caretaker for many years, or as love offerings to the family.
