Lee Roy Davidson, 75

A celebration of the life of Lee Roy Davidson, 75, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Davidson died at his home on Jan. 5, the day before his 76th birthday, after a courageous battle against lung cancer.

He was born Jan. 6, 1944, at Tecumseh, the son of Jewell and Adreno Miller Davidson. He attended Sallee grade school and then went to Gainesville High School, graduating in 1961.

On Oct. 28, 1966, in Hardenville, he married Connie Quackenbush with the Rev. Willie Hillhouse officiating. Mr. Davidson was a Christian and a member of the Lilly Ridge Baptist Church. He was a master Mason and had recently received his 50-year pin, of which he was very proud. He worked as an ironworker for many years and then joined the telephone company, where he worked until becoming disabled.

He is survived by Connie, his wife of 53 years; a very special and much loved niece, Samantha Harris of Nixa, and Samantha’s husband Bryan and their children, Bella, Olivia, Ellie and Julia; his sister, Alice Linville and husband Tom of Zanoni; nephews David, Gary, Bub and Randy; nieces Sue Ann, Barb, Carol, Kay, Rosemary and Carolyn; many friends and some very special hunting and fishing buddies, Teresa Patterson, Connie Camden, Chris Rutherford and Lane Crisp.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Chic; and his brothers, Harry, Harold and Gib.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Arrangements by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
