Landon Clayton ‘L.C.’ Barner, 79

A celebration of the life of Landon Clayton “L.C.” Barner, 79, of Pontiac, will be held at a later date. Mr. Barner died April 24, 2018, in Springfield.
He was born July 5, 1938, in Pontiac, the son of Harry and Wilma Hicks Barner. He grew up in Pontiac and graduated from the School of the Ozarks. He was an Army veteran. On Oct. 7, 1960, he married Jean VanDeusen of Howards Ridge. They enjoyed more than 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Barner  enjoyed hunting and fishing. After living in Colorado for several years, he returned to Pontiac, the place he called home. He was known for his hard-work ethics and his generous heart. He will be missed by many family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Barner, of Pontiac; his daughter, Janice Matlock and husband Larry, and his son Jay Barner and wife Tracy, all of Colorado; grandson Jason Bogard of Colorado; two granddaughters, Kristin Barner of Wyoming and Katie Barner of Colorado; and his great- granddaughter Shantelle Bogard of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Almeda Barner and Iva Barner.
