Karen Slavings, 60

Funeral services for Karen Lynn Slavings, 60, of Caulfield, were held Sept. 30, 2017, at the Bakersfield Pavilion in Bakersfield. Mrs. Slavings died Sept. 25 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.

She was born Sept. 4, 1957, in Lockwood, the daughter of Bailey Leon and Rosemary James Hill. On Dec. 29, 1973, in Bakersfield she married Steve Slavings.

Mrs. Slavings was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bakersfield, where she was a youth Sunday school teacher for 31 years. She operated a fireworks stand for many years; she enjoyed singing and watching her grandkids play sports. She loved her family, her many friends and her community.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Slavings, of the family home; three children, Heather Smith and husband Robert of Udall, Heath Slavings and wife Shanna of Webb City, and Jordan Slavings and wife Diana of Mountain Home, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Nautica, Callie, Blaine, Bryndale, Milo and Henry; two brothers, Terry Leon Hill and wife Vicki, and Jerry Hill and wife Vickie, all of Highlandville; one sister, Amber Henry and husband Rodney of Nixa; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friends, Lynda Smith and Susie Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew and one great-niece.

Burial was in the Bakersfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Bakersfield Food Pantry, P.O.
