John James Rule, 72

Funeral services for John James Rule, 72, of Thornfield, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at the Mount Lebanon General Baptaist Church in Thornfield with Pastor Louis Stern Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. Mr. Rule died Dec. 27 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born June 2, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of James Allen and Lottie Jane Gibson Rule. On Feb. 14, 1969, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, he married Mary Elizabeth Breedlove.   

He served 20 years in the Army National Guard and worked as a cost estimator for Word Industries in Tulsa for several years. 

The Rules have lived in the Thornfield community for 22 years. He was a member of the Ava Lions Club. 

Mr. Rule was a Christian and a member of Mount Lebanon General Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and animals, and he loved all baby creatures. His joy and love was spending time with his family. 

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home in Thornfield, and their three daughters and their spouses,  Renee Green and spouse Mike, Richelle Green and spouse James, and Rachel Johnson and spouse Shannon; seven grandchildren, Carly, Garrett, Riley, Lindsey, Gabe, Samuel and Stella Jane; his sister, Margaret Jane Rule Farris and her husband Ray; and nephews, a niece and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his Uncle Jess and Aunt Clarice.

Following the funeral service, burial with full military honors performed by the National Guard and the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 will be in the Thornfield Cemetery.
