Jesse Gonzales, 79

Jesse Reynolds Gonzales,79, of Isabella, died peacefully Aug. 12, 2019, at his home with family. No services are planned at this time. 

He was born July 20, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Dorothy Lee Reynolds and Sotero Moreno. He was proud to be a veteran of both the Navy (1957-1961) and the Army (1968-1969). In 1972 in Kansas City, he married Charlene Garrison of Isabella. He was a truckdriver in Kansas City for many years, and after his retirement from American Freight Company in 1993, he and his wife moved to Isabella, where he spent his days fishing and being with family and friends. During his retirement, he was a member of the Isabella VFW and also served as a firefighter with the Theodosia Area Volunteer Fire Department. He was loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by Charlene Gonzales, his wife of 47 years; his son, Charles Farmer and wife Connie of Willard; his daughters Elisa Busker and husband Nick of Blue Springs, Angela Smith and husband Steve of Springhill, Kansas, Diane Maria Gonzales of Kansas City; sisters Toni L. Stephen of Shawnee, Kansas, and Martha M. Sharp of Lenexa, Kansas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Donna Lawson of Theodosia, Juanita and Tim Jeffery, Lorene and Sonny Cherry, L.D. Garrison and Bonita Hardy, Ronnie and Shirley Garrison, all of Isabella, and Bonnie and John Peter of Gainesville; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who knew him as Papaw Jesse; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, both formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, and his daughter Cindy Daniels, formerly of Gainesville.
