Jack ‘Flash’ Blackburn, 72

Jack “Flash” Blackburn, 72, of Gainesville died Dec. 1, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family, following a battle with lymphoma. Per Jack’s request, no public services are planned.
He was born Sept. 4, 1947, the third son of Flay and Dorothy Blackburn. He grew up near Tecumseh and was a 1966 graduate of Gainesville High School.
After returning home from serving in the Vietnam War, he married Jackie Polovich, and they had two sons, Walker and Gabriel.
Jack spent many years working as a union ironworker, traveling around the country to jobs with his big brother, Jim.
He was more at home on the North Fork River than anywhere else. Countless days were spent fishing and exploring its waters and banks with friends and family, or on his own.
A lifelong trader, he was always on the lookout for deals and hidden gems.  His family will treasure the unique and personal gifts he was known for giving, particularly the silver dollars he always gave his grandchildren for their birthdays.
He is survived by his sons, Walker Blackburn and wife Beth Ann of Gainesville, and their daughters Gracyn and Gentry, and Gabe Blackburn and wife Jessica of Pontiac, and their children Regan and Hudson; five brothers and sisters, Bob Blackburn, Jim Blackburn and wife Janice; Kathy Snell and husband Clarence; Linda Blackburn and Nancy Blackburn; and many nieces and nephews and countless friends he considered as close as family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Flay and Dorothy Blackburn, and two sisters, Cindy Blackburn and Pat Blackburn.
Arrangements by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
