Herbert Taff Wyman Jr., 87

The family of Herbert Taft Wyman Jr. gathered to celebrate his life Dec. 9, 2017, in the home of his son, Robert Wyman in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr. Wyman died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease on Nov. 30 at the Kansas City Hospice Center in Overland Park

He was born Dec. 1, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Herbert T. and Marvella Fortner Wyman. He grew up and attended school in the Ozark and Taney county area.

He helped clear the ground for the Wyman church and cemetery near Reuter. As a teenager, he left school to go to work for the railroad in the Kansas City area.

He was a very proud and independent man who later owned his own construction company and enjoyed working with his hands. He worked on machines, and he learned the stone mason’s trade from his father. He was also a licensed electrician and plumber; with all his skills, he could build a house from the ground up.

He is survived by his seven children, Herbert Wyman III, Teresa Brundage, Michael Wyman, Ricky Wyman, Robert Wyman, William Wyman and Stacey Nekula, his siblings and many grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements by Mid-States Cremation, Kansas City, Kansas.
