George Algozzini, 91

Graveside services for George Algozzini, 91, of Grain Valley, formerly of Pleasant Hill, Urich and Ozark County, were held March 26, 2018, at the Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia. Mass of Christian burial was held March 24 at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill with Monsignor Robert Murphy officiating. Following mass, full military honors were conducted by the Army and VFW Post #3118 honor guard. Mr. Algozzini died March 19 at the North Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by love and family.
He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Paul and Frances Alongi Algozzini. He graduated from East Chicago Roosevelt High School in 1946. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
On May 28, 1949, in East Chicago, he married Marilyn J. Schaller. After her death on Feb. 22, 1992, he married Glena Gooden Perkins on March 19, 2001, in Miami, Oklahoma.
Mr. Algozzini owned and operated G&M Produce. He also operated bulldozers, farmed and trained thoroughbreds. He was a member of the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill and attended Holy Trinity Parish in Urich. He enjoyed listening to classical music and watching old westerns, horse racing and the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks; he especially enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Glena; two sons, Paul Algozzini and wife Linda of Kansas City, and Frank Algozzini and wife Glenda of North Charleston, South Carolina; one daughter, Georgette Elder and husband Doug of Grain Valley; 10 grandchildren, Paula Johnson and husband Randy, George Algozzini and wife Carrie, John Algozzini, Anthony Algozzini and wife Saffron, Kristen Kethman and husband Ryan, Matthew Timmons, Samuel Timmons, Angela Key and husband Charles, Amanda Chitwood and husband Nick and Alexandra Elder; 19 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Janette Algozzini and Marilyn Sue Timmons; three brothers, Joe Algozzini, John Algozzini and Sam Algozzini; two sisters, Mary Lombardo and Josephine Chaffer; and two infant brothers.
