Doran H. Livingston, 92

Doran H. Livingston, 92

Funeral services for Doran H. Livingston, 92, of Springfield, were held Jan. 18, 2019, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield, followed by a short service and burial at Smith Chapel Cemetery near Zanoni. Mr. Livingston died Jan. 15 at the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek in Springfield.

He was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Rockbridge, the son of William and Nancy Hester Mayberry Livingston. He grew up in Ozark and Douglas counties and attended high school in Dora. On Jan. 9, 1945, he married China Bell Bushong on her birthday. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage prior to her death in 2013.

In addition to farming and raising cattle, Mr. Livingston was an auctioneer in the Springfield area for many years. He also worked with his wife in her window-covering business for more than 40 years. Many homes and businesses in the area still showcase the results of their talented work. He was a lifetime member of the Churches of Christ; his most recent membership was at Jackson Street Church of Christ in Willard.

He was known as someone who never met a stranger, and he always had a story, usually several, to tell. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends whose lives he has touched over the years, and by all who loved his stories, his giving spirit and his wisdom.

He is survived by one son, Jerry D. Livingston and wife Joyce of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee; one daughter, Dr. Shelia V. Taylor and husband John of Springfield; a granddaughter, Dawn Crisler and husband Brad, and their two daughters Audra and Carmen; and by grandson Eric Livingston and wife Dixie, and their sons Isaac and Ethan and daughter Jaylie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Verda.

Memorial contributions may be given to In Search of the Lord’s Way, P.O. Box 371, Edmond, OK 73083 (www.searchtv.org).
