Donald E. Jenkins, 82

Funeral services for Donald E. Jenkins, 85, of Heavener, Oklahoma, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Heavener Baptist Church in Heavener. Mr. Jenkins died Dec. 29 at his home in Heavener.

He was born March 2, 1935, in Oakland, Arkansas, the son of Tonie and Canzada Taylor Jenkins. He was raised on a farm at Pontiac. After his graduation from Gainesville High School in 1952, he went to work in Wichita, Kansas, eventually retiring from the U.S. Postal Service. He also served in the Army and spent time in Korea. 

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Leslie Wilson and husband Sam and Kristen Slusser and husband Steve, all of Heavener; step-grandchildren Sean and Clancy, Mackinzie and Madison; sister Frances Johnson and husband Rex of Gainesville and their family, daughter Teresa Hicks and husband Dan and their children Matt, Caroline Cotner and husband Andy, son Eric Johnson and friend Linda, and daughter Lisa Monkress and daughter Marissa Monkress, all of Springfield; nieces Pat and Connie Jenkins, and sister-in-law Theo Jenkins of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; and brothers Rex Jenkins and Fred Jenkins.
