Dewey Glenn Simpson, 90

Dewey Glenn Simpson, 90, of  Ava, died Sept. 20, 2018, at Heart of the Ozarks Health Care in Ava with his wife, Louise, by his side. A memorial service will be held later.

He was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Squires, the son of Harry and Tressie Thompson Simpson. 

He grew up in the Squires. Mr. Simpson was a Navy veteran who served during World War II and also the Korean War. He retired as a machinist from a roofing company in Kansas City. On Nov. 18, 1981, in Ava, he married Louise Boles. 

He was a Christian and had attended the Black Oak Church. He was also a member of the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 and the VFW post #5993.

He enjoyed doing woodworking and machine work and sharing his crafts with all his friends and family. He loved playing music, especially his Martin guitar, and he played all over Douglas and Ozark County. In former years, he participated in the music gatherings at the Souder store in Ozark County and he also played at Hootin an Hollarin. Glenn loved being with people and never met a stranger.  

He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Ava; one son, Mark Simpson; two stepsons, Michael and Jerry Tann of Kansas City; and a host of other relatives and friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Simpson; and one stepson, Cary Ray Tann.
