Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Blue Valley Baptist Church in Overland Park. Mrs. Hogan died March 30, in Overland Park.

She was born May 25, 1926, in Lutie, the daughter of Allen and Bertha Hampton Ledbetter. She accepted Jesus as her Savior at age 15 and faithfully loved and served Him all her life, cherishing her church families in Springfield and Overland Park.

After graduating from Gainesville High School in 1945, she earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from what is now Missouri State University. In December 1945, she married Ralph H. Hogan and raised two daughters, Jennifer and Jill.

Mrs. Hogan loved teaching children.  She was a life-long educator, beginning her teaching career in 1945 teaching grades one through eight at the one-room school at Longrun. She taught in several rural schools in Ozark County and later taught fifth grade in Republic and Springfield. She served as principal at Ritter and York elementary schools in Springfield.  After retiring in 1982, she continued tutoring children in her home for many years. Mrs. Hogan enjoyed the life-long friendships she developed with her students, their parents and her colleagues.

She was an avid traveler, gardener, scrapbooker, quilter, history buff, game player and pie baker. She loved spending time with her family most of all – as demonstrated by all the scrapbooks she filled with pictures of her granddaughters and great-grands.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Creed of Cedar Park, Texas, and Jill Hogan of Overland Park; granddaughters Paige Williams and husband Corey of Corinth, Texas, and Allison Granger and husband Jarrod of Cedar Park, Texas; great-grandchildren Carson Williams, Payne Williams, Addison Granger and Harris Granger; her brother, Carl Ledbetter and wife Sara of Neosho; sister-in-law Carolyn Ledbetter of Sarcoxie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, W. D. Ledbetter.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Isabella Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside General Baptist Church of Springfield or Blue Valley Baptist Church of Overland Park.

Arrangements by Greenlawn East Funeral Home, Springfield.
