David Chunn, 75

Funeral services for David Elliott Chunn, 75, of Ava, formerly of Gainesville, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with the Rev. Don Yarger officiating. Mr. Chunn died Aug. 19 at his home.

He was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Lannis Earl and Helen Ruth Watson Chunn. He was an Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Chunn received a B.S. degree in business administration with a major in marketing management and a minor in sociology from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

On Aug. 29, 1986, in Sikeston, he married Doris Day. He  was a retired supervisor with Fleming Wholesale Distribution in Sikeston. After retiring, the couple moved to Gainesville, and then to Ava.  

Mr. Chunn was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Ava; one son, Shawn Nickell and wife Rebecca of Wildwood, two grandchildren, Charli Anne and Conner Nickell; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Chunn. 

Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood in Springfield.
