Betty Morrison Lehar, 87

Funeral services for Betty James Morrison Lehar, 87, of Springdale, Arkansas, formerly of Willard, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Greenlawn South Funeral Home in Springfield. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Lehar died Jan. 26 in Rogers, Arkansas.

She was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Gainesville, the daughter of Frank and Opal Luna James. She was raised in Gainesville, and when she was a teenager, she met Sanford “Bron” Morrison of Zanoni. They were married in 1949 and moved to Springfield to begin their life together. They were married 51 years before Mr. Morrison died in 2000.

She worked at Zenith Corporation for 26 years and at Willard Elementary School as a cook before becoming a full-time caregiver for Mr. Morrison after he suffered a massive stroke. Following his death, she became a caregiver to others in their homes and was dearly loved for her compassionate care and hard work.

In 2009 in Willard, she married Eugene Lehar; they enjoyed living and working on his small farm until his death in 2015.

When she began having health issues, she moved in with her daughter Diana Hunt and husband Michael, and she relocated with them to Springdale, Arkansas, in 2017 to be closer to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lehar had a strong Christian faith that she loved to share with others. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ in Arkansas. Before moving to Arkansas, she was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Hunt and husband Michael; two sisters, Maryann Strong, and Judy Jewell and husband Clifton; two granddaughters, Brittany Aguirre and husband Toby, and Lindsay Witcofski and husband Hayden; and four great-grandchildren, Elwynn Witcofski and Ian, Jonah and Piper Aguirre; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bron Morrison and Eugene Lehar; and her son, Elwyn, who died in 1969 at age 16.

Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home, Strafford.
