Ronald Van “Skid” Evans

Funeral services for Ronald Van “Skid” Evans, 76, of Gainesville, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2022, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. to service time. Burial will be at Sallee Cemetery with full military honors.

He died June 13, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born May 4, 1946, in Gainesville to Walter and Iva (Boatright) Evans. 

Skid was a 1964 graduate of Gainesville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.  

He married Vicky Usrey on Jan. 30, 1971, and to this union two children were born, Darin and Jennifer. 

Skid worked for many years as a dozer operator. He was a hard working and honest man. He loved his family, farming and always enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife Vicky Evans of the home; one son, Darin Evans and wife Teresa; one daughter, Jennifer Evans, all of Gainesville; grandchildren Tyelor and Ryelon Estes, Jalen, Camden and Haden Evans; great grandchildren Jaxxson Quade Estes and Ryesynn Dapple Estes; one sister Lavonne Stone; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Laveta Strong, Leeland Evans, O’dean Evans, Shearl Evans and Sonny James.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
