Narvella Lair, 90

 

A private memorial service was held Oct. 9, 2021, for Narvella Lair, 90, of Caulfield, who died Aug. 24. 

She was born April 17, 1931, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, the daughter of Dan and Veda Abernathy Huff.  On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1947, in West Plains, she married Dwayne Lair. She started her career at the International Shoe Factory in West Plains and then worked at Baxter Laboratories in Mountain Home, Arkansas, until she retired after working there 28 years. She would take anyone who needed a grandmother under her wing and love them as much as she loved her own grandchildren. She was well known for her chocolate pie.

She is survived by three children, Cheryl Carter and husband Gary, Dwanell Snethern and husband Al, and Layne Lair and wife Sandra, all of Caulfield; nine grandchildren, Ty Carter, Kody Carter and wife Angie, Krista Wiese, Keagan Snethern, Daniel Belt and wife Tonya, Nathan Lair and wife Katie, Aubrey Lair and wife Peggy, Blair Lair and wife Samantha, and Melissa Looney; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Danaleen Crosby and husband Gary of Lillian, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Linda Cotter and husband Dwane of Caulfield; and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her father- and mother-in-law, Oscar and Dorothy Lair; two sisters, Wanda Endland and husband Noah, and Betty Vaughn and husband  Leroy ; one sister-in-law, Cora Macie Hickman Strongfellow; and one brother-in-law, Herbie Lair.

Burial was in Amy Cemetery in Caulfield.
