Jon Kimmen, 48

Jon Kimmen, 48, of St. Louis, formerly of Isabella, died July 22, 2020, at his home in St. Louis. Memorial services are pending. 

He was born April 12, 1972, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Al Kimmen and Ruby Barnes. He was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa.

As a child in Harlan, Iowa, he was well known for his lemonade stands and for offering rides in his toy tractor, pulling a wagon, an outfit that often appeared on the front page of the local newspaper.

He was always at his dad’s side when it came time to fix lawnmowers and cars.

When he was 11, he moved with his family to Isabella; he attended school at Lutie and in Gainesville.

As an adult, he continued in the automobile parts and mechanics businesses until his untimely death.

He is survived by his father; his stepmother, Gale; and his mother, Ruby Barnes, of Isabella; three brothers, William and wife Sherry of Palm Bay, Florida, Andrew and wife Dawn of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and adopted brother Frank; two stepsisters and two stepbrothers of Isabella; three aunts, two uncles and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his stepfather, Mike Barnes; six aunts and two uncles.
