James William DeGase, 80

Funeral services for James William DeGase, 80, of Ava, were held Sept. 14, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with Pastor Buddy Boyd officiating. Mr. DeGase died Sept. 9 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava.

He was born Sept. 2, 1940, in the Ozark County community of Foil, the son of James William (Sr.) and Velma Gray DeGase. On Nov. 21, 1959, in Wasola, he married Karen Trent.

Mr. DeGase was a truck driver, a farmer and a carpenter. He loved working. He was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, car races, watching Cardinals baseball and any kind of sports. He loved being with all his family.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; three children and their spouses, Greg DeGase and wife Joyce of Buffalo, Jeff DeGase and wife Kellie of Mansfield and Sherri Vaughan and husband Shane of Ozark; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Marjorie DeGase; one nephew, Doug DeGase; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul DeGase; and a niece, Debbie DeGase.

Burial was in the Murray Cemetery in Squires.
