Donald Huston Freeman, 86

Funeral services for Donald Huston Freeman, 86, of Dora, were held  Feb. 21, 2021, at Needmore Church of God south of Dora. Mr. Freeman died Feb. 17 at Brooke Haven Healthcare in West Plains. 

 He was born July 26, 1934, near Dora, the son of H. Burdine and Emma Durham Freeman.

On July 30, 1954, he married Earlene Duncan. He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1952.  Following graduation, he worked as a tool room machinist for 15 years at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, for Case Tractor in Racine, Wisconsin, and for American Motors in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

After the death of his father, he and his family moved back to the farm on Bryant Creek that has been in his family for 142 years. He and his wife raised beef cattle there for 54 years. 

Mr. Freeman loved his family and adored his four great-granddaughters. He loved his church family, hunting deer and turkey, fishing, gigging, doing anything to improve his farm and caring for his cattle.  He was a member of Needmore Church of God. 

He is survived by his wife, Earlene, of the family home; one son, Ron Freeman and wife Barbara of Dora; two grandsons, Justin Freeman and wife Alison of Haines Junction, Yukon, Canada, and Brett Freeman and wife Jessica of Willard; four great-granddaughters, Lilly, Adelyn and Evelyn Freeman of Willard and Molly Freeman of Haines Junction; and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Lloyd Freeman and Delbert Freeman; and one foster sister, Goldie Sanders.
