Deborah Ann ‘Debi’ Shipley, 63

Funeral services for Deborah Ann “Debi” Shipley, 63, of Ava, were held Dec. 18, 2017, at Ball Church of Christ. Mrs. Shipley died Dec. 14 at Cox Medical Center South in in Springfield.

She was born Dec. 23, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Rudolph L. and Goldie Inez Delaplain Eck. She was a homemaker and farmer for 30 years; she worked as a sales clerk at Roy’s Store, was manager at Crossroads Store and most recently worked alongside her friend and boss, Shawn Irby, at Farm Bureau of Ava.  She was a hard worker and took care of her family. She was instrumental in forming the Dora Volunteer Fire Department and was a great dispatcher. She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by four daughters, Lisa Rodgers and husband Jimmy, Jenny Hambelton and husband Greg, Jaci Robinson and husband Billy and Brianna Shipley; the father of her girls, Monte Shipley; nine grandchildren, Misty Blackwelder and husband Jared, Matt Rodgers and wife Abby, Treysen Hambelton and special friend Avery Warren, Ceder Collins, Cassidy Hambelton, Sawyer Fox, Rayne Robinson, Ryder Fox and Jensen Hambelton; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Blackwelder; one sister, Sandra Huckabey and husband Joseph; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Burial was in the Ball Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farm Bureau Debi Shipley Scholarship Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
