Barbara Patricia Nina

Barbara Patricia Nina, 80, of Gainesville, died Sept. 21, 2020, at Gainesville Health Care Center after an extended illness. Private services will be held later.

She was born July 11, 1940, in New York City, the daughter of Raymond O’Bruba and Margaret Matthews. 

On June 16, 1959, she married George C. Canzoneri, and on Oct. 5, 1980, she married Joseph R. Nina. 

She studied art at the National Academy of Fine Arts and attended the Thorpe School of Business. She was a homemaker and worked as an office administrator. She loved Nascar and was an avid reader of crime novels; she painted and enjoyed supporting the arts and animal rescue organizations. She had previously lived in Manhattan, New York; Mission Viejo, California; and West Plains.

Surviving are her daughters, Patricia A. Grudem and husband Bill of Caulfield, and Maria Bray of Buckhannon, West Virginia; grandchildren Michael McArtney and wife Lizzy of Mission Viejo, Danielle Shrable and husband Jesse of Caulfield, C.J. Bray and wife Heidi of Elkins, West Virginia, and Kelly Lasher and husband Ryan of Murrieta, California; one sister, Sandy Mackston of New York; and several great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by parents; her husbands; and one daughter, Barbara Ratzel. 

In remembrance of her life, the family asks that any charitable donations he made to local animal rescue organizations.
