Arnold Lawson, 95

Funeral services for Arnold Lawson, 95, of Thornfield, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2018, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with Pastor Jimmy Kyle officiating. Mr. Lawson died Dec. 1 at his home, surrounded by his family.  

He was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Thornfield, the son of Hobert and Leta Barner Lawson. In January 1943, he was drafted and served during World War II with the 1881st Aviation Battalion. His wartime experiences were described in a story published Nov. 7 in the Ozark County Times. 

On May 29, 1946, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, he married Geraldine McDaniel. 

Mr. Lawson was a hard-working man and loving father. He enjoyed working on the farm and loved spending time with family and friends. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could do just about anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed watching wrestling on TV. 

He is survived by his son, Dennis Lawson; his daughter Jeanette Johnson and husband Raymond; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Darrell Watson; a daughter-in-law, Bulah Lawson; two sisters, Alene Turner and Virginia Pugh and husband Rick; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his daughter, Audean Watson; his son, Bob Lawson; and his brother, Leonard Lawson. 

Burial will be in Thornfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Thornfield Cemetery or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be expressed at clinkingbeardfuneralhome.com.
